I earned my bachelor degree in Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China, master degree in Operations Research from the Institute of Applied Mathematics of Chinese Academy of Science, and doctoral degree in Statistics from the Department of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before coming to UCSB, I worked in the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan.

I am an elected fellow of the ASA, IMS, and ISI, a fellow of RSS, and a member of IBS and ICSA. My research interests lie in the development of statistical methodology and their applications. My current research areas include smoothing spline, mixed-effects models, survival analysis, longitudinal data, microarray data analysis, dialysis, circadian rhythm, hormone pulses, etc. I always welcome new collaborative research opportunities.
